First Event @ the Trails
great start to dg events at the trails today. we raised $123 for the Canns as they prepare to go Peru to live for 26 months. we'll do some more event to support them later.
likely we will do a grand opening ether Dec 4 or 11 - gotta check with county officials. maybe we will do a pro/am type event where we pair players with sponsors to show them the course and how to play. more later.

tee signs and trails entrance banner
all of the tee signs should be in place on Friday as well as a banner to show everyone where to start the disc golf experience.
we've talked about benches at each tee. i think for now the best, most natural, cheapest solution is to cut sections of log and place 4 "log seats" at each tee box. still need to clear out some around many of these. feel free to do this as you go to play.
we are also going to place trash baskets at each tee box. please pick up your trash.
don't forget about the random doubles tournament on Saturday (11/13) $10 - 18 holes. prizes for the winning team. meet at 9:30, tees at 10 am. Velocity DG will be on hand with lots of discs and order forms for all your Christmas disc golf goodies.

Random Doubles this Saturday - Nov 13
hey folks - if you are interested - we are holding a doubles tourney this Saturday (11.13) - one round, random draw doubles, meet at 9:30 and play begins a 10 am.
There is a $10 entry fee. proceeds from this event go to help Sam Cann as he prepares to go to Peru in 2012. There will be prizes for the winning team. Velocity Disc Golf will be on hand with discs, shirts, etc for sale with the ability to special order bags, targets and specific disc by Christmas. Bring your wish list.

Work Day
I know it is late notice, but if anyone is around Saturday (10.30) at 10 am, I will be at the course with bags of concrete that need to be poured in 6-7 tee sign holes where the poles were not correctly placed the first time. Also, if anyone has seen a green tee sign post laying around, please let me know. we are missing one on #18.
Other little projects include: clearing around a couple of tees and trails to tees. bring your clippers!!!

Picked up a new sponsor
you never know what you'll come up with at the disc golf course. last week, I was doing a little maintenance and met Jim. Jim is retired and inquisitive and enthusiastic about people...especially his friends. Jim wrote a check on the spot to sponsor a hole in his friends realty company's name. Thanks Jim! you are awesome.
Basil and the sign company are getting the kinks worked out and tee signs are coming. No word from Duke Energy on the Pavilion/ starting point. There are new "next tee" sign on the course, so navigation should be easier for newbies.
I've been asked about doing a fund raiser ace run on November 13. Mark your calendars for some fun and prizes.
