Stuff going on 6.19.12

Sorry Disc Golf Nation I've been in lock down mode since March.  But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

A couple of things:

1.  There is a Hippie Tournament on July 1 at the trails - actually to simultaneous tournaments - $5 in for each - the first is an Ace Race and the second is a captains choice

"DISC GOLFers.....July 1st we will be throwing the 3rd "Hippie Tournament"!!! it will start @ 1pm at the Trails disc golf course (Anderson civic center). So far Wedgys Pizza, Painted Pony Tattoos, Play It Again Sports, and probably Uptown Lounge, will be sponsoring the tournament. There will be 2 separate tournaments that day...an ACE RACE, and a doubles captains choice! Each tournament will be $5 to enter or $10 for both...duh! If u or your business would like to sponsor this tournament let me know before Sunday the 24th....so i can add you, your family, or business to the banner!"

facebook Keith Freelin for more info

2.  David Dutterer is heading up the Poison Ivy task force.  What he is suggesting is finding 6 people to "adopt" 3 holes to spray.  Email me if you would be able to do that.

3.  Signs - signs are coming!  Waiting on county parks to give the final go ahead on something more vandal proof.

4. I highly encourage you to support and become a member of Upstate Disc Golf Club.  We are attempting to connect Dgers from G'ville, EAsley, Greer, Clemson and Anderson.  Check out http://www.upstatediscgolfclub.com/

Tee Signs and Stuff

The remaining tee signs have been removed - although # 8 was stolen and no has mysteriously reappeared.  In all we are missing a total of 3 now.  The County is looking into a more vandal proof solution along with repair of the fence between the course and the apartment complex.

Other news - it looks like we are going to be able to add 2 more practice baskets along the green space in front of the tennis courts as well as more trash cans.

It would be great to build some benches too - any body want to take on that task?

Darwin Wright - City Beach - is likely getting a face lift.  We are planning to move 7 holes and relocate them to a more disc-friendly part of the park.  We are hoping to add 3 more hole to bring it to a total of 12.  The idea is to add 3 more over the next couple of years until we get to a full 18.

Looking to have a singles - for fun event in May or June - any ideas?

Also, the Easley tournament that is usually on 4th of July weekend is now June 23-24 and will be at Greer and another location, possibly the Trails.  Check out High Fly Discs. Those are some great guys that love disc golf and really want to see it take off in the area.

Oh yeah - any body interested in actually forming a disc golf club in Anderson?  Would we like to establish weekly doubles?  Or a league night?  Hollar at me if you want to run with this.  topflight@velocitydiscgolf.com
